The structure and function of the human body are very closely integrated. Over time, a poor function in one part of the body can drastically impact the rest of the body. Osteopaths are trained to find those imbalances and correct them through gentle manipulation of the joints, ligaments, muscles, and organs.

Osteopathy was founded in 1874 in Kirksville, Missouri by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still.  Manual osteopaths have an extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology that they use to emphasize the interrelationships between structure and function of the body.

Osteopathy is based around four important principles:

1. The body is a whole

2. The body is self-healing and self-regulating

3. Structure and function are interrelated

4. Treatments is based around the above three principles

Osteopathy works to restore proper body mechanics, nerve impulses, and circulation of body fluids to help restore the health of the individual.
